The Traveler’s Photo School: Prague

A beginner-friendly photography workshop in Prague, designed for travelers who want to understand their camera and develop their own way of seeing.

A five-day photography workshop in Prague for travelers who want to learn the fundamentals, explore the city, and start seeing the world like a photographer. We’ll move through Prague in a small group, shooting together, breaking off to explore on our own, and coming back together to share the experience - equal parts learning, travel, and fun! Think photo camp for adults.

Learning To See

Unlike other art forms like drawing and painting, cameras show us a version of our shared reality.  We can literally show other people what we see when we look at the world around us and that’s what I want to teach you to do.

How I Teach

I take a story-first approach to learning which means slowing down and being intentional about how we shoot.  Each day we’ll tackle a new technical skill together and do group exercises to reinforce your knowledge.

Your Story

This workshop is all about learning to capture the version of Prague that you discover and exploring the city on your own is as important as what we do as a group.  I want you to leave Prague not just knowing how the camera works, but how you make it work for you.

The Rhythm of the Week

Enjoying Prague Together

Many of you will be traveling alone to attend this workshop, and five days on your own in a new city might sound intimidating. That’s why there are multiple social activities in the evenings for you to relax and enjoy Prague as a city instead of as a classroom.

Prague is a vibrant place with more bars, restaurants, and coffee shops than you could ever experience in a week, and I’ll show you some of my favorite places in the city for beer, Czech food (and not Czech food), and general nightlife around the city.

Is This For You?

This will likely feel like a good fit if you:

  • are new to photography, returning to it after time away, or have some basic knowledge but want to deepen your understanding

  • enjoy learning by doing rather than through heavy instruction

  • value small groups, conversation, and shared experience

This may not be the best fit if you:

  • are looking for a fast-paced tour or a rigid itinerary

  • want highly technical or advanced instruction

  • are looking to be led to the most Instagrammable spots in Prague

This workshop is designed for people who are curious, open, and interested in slowing down to learn something thoughtfully. You don’t need prior photography experience — just a willingness to pay attention, participate, and explore.

About Me

Discovering Photography

Nothing has changed the way I see the world more than learning to use a camera — and nothing makes me want to pick one up more than being somewhere new. For years, I assumed I’d work solely as a photographer. But while studying, I began teaching on the side, and that detour changed everything.

Changing Gears

I loved photography, but the solitary nature of the work didn’t fully suit me. Teaching did. It meant being out in the world with a camera alongside curious, motivated people — shooting, talking, and figuring things out in real time. It became clear that this shared process was what I cared about most.

Moving to Prague

After a decade of professional work in Los Angeles, I moved to Prague in 2020 to pursue my master’s degree at FAMU. Along the way, through teaching and guiding, I discovered I have a knack for helping people feel comfortable in unfamiliar situations — whether that’s navigating a new city or finally taking their camera off auto mode.

Why I do this

Teaching photography in a small-group travel setting brings together everything I value: creativity, exploration, and community. This workshop is for people who want to learn by doing — adapting to real situations and using their camera to tell a story, not just dial in the “right” settings.

If that sounds like your kind of experience, you’ll probably feel right at home here.
